EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Publish less. Verify more.

Public records can affect real people. These standards keep the publication focused on accuracy, public interest, source context, and responsible updates.

BEFORE PUBLICATION

Every item must clear the same baseline.

Local automation publishes eligible public-record source material with its source context. The desk still reviews credible corrections, identity mismatches, restrictions, and material case updates.

  1. 01

Use primary public records or clearly identify the reporting source.

  2. 02

Distinguish allegations, arrest records, charges, court actions, and outcomes.

  3. 03

Publish only eligible records with a source image and a public source link.

  4. 04

Do not publish restricted, sealed, or otherwise non-public material.

  5. 05

Avoid unnecessary personal details and unsupported speculation.

  6. 06

Review credible factual corrections, identity mismatches, and material case updates.

  7. 07

Never accept payment in exchange for editorial removal or a correction decision.

WHEN THE RECORD CHANGES

Reporting does not end at publication.

We expect new facts and court outcomes to change the picture. When a reliable update materially changes an item, we correct or add context to the record.
